UPDATE: As of April 2020 in response to COVID-19, we offer Telemedicine Well Visits for children older than age 2, which are now covered by certain insurances. When you call to set your appointment, you will speak to a Medical Assistant who will discuss how to measure your child and obtain some background information for your telemedicine visit. Please see the following links on how to measure your baby prior to the visit with your provider.

Virginia Pediatric Group is offering scheduled telemedicine services; face-to-face online visits with one of our providers via your computer, tablet, or smartphone.  This service is being provided for specific conditions with our patients and prenatal visits for expectant parents.

We know it can be difficult to make the time and deal with the traffic when coming to the office for follow-ups or to pick up prescriptions from the office for certain medications.  Using a video interface that can be scheduled as an appointment and qualify for appropriate monitoring of care for on-going medical problems can substitute for an in-office visit.  Most insurance companies recognize and will cover the charges for a telemedicine visit, with the same co-pay arrangement as an office visit.  Prescriptions can be electronically delivered to your pharmacy of choice or, in the case of those that require a signed prescription, mailed to your residence.

We will ask that you pay your insurance co-pay prior to the visit, as is done in the office.  If an insurance company does not cover the visit, you will be charged for the cost of the visit.  When you call to make a telemedicine appointment, you will be referred to a website (Anytime Pediatrics) where you will be able to set up an account.  You will be sent an email reminder of an upcoming appointment and, when you log in, will be placed in a virtual waiting room.  Most visits require that your child participate when capable.  Most visits take 10 to 20 minutes.

ADHD and other behavioral care evaluations require an initial office visit and may require several office visits to establish a stable medication regimen.  Subsequent visits for medication review may be done via a telemedicine visit.  It is important to have at least one in-office visit twice a year and if there are more significant problems or issues that may require an office visit.
