Great Falls Pediatrician Teams up
Merger will give patients access to more services.

By Alex McVeigh, The Connection
Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Dr. Vojislava Russo has been serving the children and families of Great Falls for the past 30 years, mostly as a solo practitioner. Since Feb. 1, however, she has been part of the Virginia Pediatric Group, a move that seems to help everyone involved.

Russo has the chance to dedicate more time to practicing medicine without getting bogged down in day-to-day administrative matters. The VAPG is able to extend their reach to the Great Falls area and patients now have access to the wide variety of services offered by VAPG.

“Dr. Russo wanted to evolve without deserting her patients, to continue her work without the responsibility of running an office,” said Dr. Russell Libby, president of the VAPG. “We’re excited about the opportunity to combine her skills and experience with ours.”

In addition to its 16 pediatricians, the VAPG offers ancillary services such as educational assessment and support, a clinical neuropsychologist, an early child evaluation therapist, an adult and child psychiatrist and a certified childbirth educator.

“Having so many services allows us to take care of problems that would otherwise be referred out,” Libby said. “[Russo’s] patients expect a certain level of service, and few practices could sustain that, but we try and provide the very best.”

Russo said that she is excited to be able to practice medicine without worrying about overhead and administrative duties.

“I have more time to spend with my family, which is nice,” she said. “When I’m not there, there will be another physician around. I know people always like having a doctor around the corner, and now I can make sure that is scheduled.”

More information about the VAPG can be found at www.vapg.com.
