Dr. Julia Aziz was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, with a few years of her childhood also spent in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky. She attended the University of Notre Dame for college and graduated in 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences and a minor in Science, Technology and Values. She continues to love watching football games and cheering for the Fighting Irish. She attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and graduated in 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed living in DC during this time. She completed her pediatrics intern year at the University of Colorado and loved working at the Children’s Hospital Colorado and skiing as many weekends as possible during the winter. She then moved back east to complete her pediatrics residency training at Johns Hopkins University. She graduated from residency and became board certified in pediatrics in 2014. Since then she has worked as a pediatrician in Northeast DC at a Federally Qualified Health Center and also continues to work as a hospitalist for Children’s National Health System at a community hospital in Fredericksburg, VA. She joined VAPG in October 2017. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society.
She enjoys practicing pediatrics and getting to know her patients and their families through times of both sickness and health. She has special interests in nutrition and healthy lifestyles, early childhood, and behavior and mental health, as well as care of hospitalized children, but she thoroughly enjoys the variety of seeing all areas of general pediatrics. She currently lives in Arlington, VA with her husband and enjoys spending time hiking at Great Falls and Shenandoah National Parks, skiing, reading, cheering for the Fighting Irish, and making using of all the great museums and events that DC has to offer!
